Things people usually ask
Will my cat still find a way out?
Most escapes happen at weak spots rather than over the main fence, so we check every tree, shed, gate and corner at the survey and escape test the finished job with you. If your cat finds a weak spot after we leave, tell us and we come back to sort it.
I do not have a fence. Can you still help?
Yes. Our landscaping background means we build the whole boundary from bare ground: posts set in concrete, the fence in your choice of style, gravel boards and the cat barrier, all as one job.
Do I need planning permission?
Usually not. In England a garden fence up to 2m needs no planning permission, or 1m beside a road, and catios within 2m of a boundary are normally fine up to 2.5m high. Listed homes and conservation areas can differ, and we flag anything at the survey.
Which system do you fit?
We fit proven galvanised steel bracket and mesh systems from an established UK manufacturer, and we build our timber catios ourselves. Brackets and mesh cope far better with gates, trees and sheds, and there are no moving parts to wear out.
How long does it take?
Most fence top barriers take one to two days and most catios two to three. New fences from bare ground usually take two to five days depending on length and ground.
Will it work for big or athletic breeds?
Yes. Ragdolls, Maine Coons and Bengals are all welcome. For strong jumpers we raise the effective height and allow at least 1.8m from anything they could launch from, like raised beds, benches or bins.
Is the mesh safe for wildlife?
We use taut, tensioned mesh rather than loose netting, which is much less of a risk to birds and other wildlife. We also check it at handover and show you what to look for.
How high should a cat fence be?
Many healthy cats can jump about 1.5 to 1.8 metres, so we bring the effective height to around 2 metres with an inward overhang. A taller plain fence is not enough on its own, because cats climb; it is the overhang that turns them back.
Catio or cat fence: which is right for us?
A cat fence gives your cats the whole garden and suits a sound boundary. A catio suits small yards, flats, rented homes or gardens that are hard to secure, and keeps wildlife fully separate. Plenty of homes have both, joined by a tunnel.
Do you cover the mainland?
Yes, around the Solent by arrangement. Ferry and travel are added at cost and shown clearly on your quote.
